Heidi’s architectural journey began at seven when she was captivated by construction sites and imagined the completed structures. This childhood fascination evolved into a lifelong passion for creating spaces that harmonize with their surroundings. In her studies, she chose to combine a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture degree with a specific focus in Historic Preservation at the University of Oregon.
Heidi’s decades of successful projects and expertise make her a regionally sought-after architect. Her distinctive approach to project leadership arises from her commitment to listening to all stakeholders and respecting the client’s vision while maintaining the critical balance of each project’s schedule, budget, and integrity. Heidi’s passion for architectural excellence has been recognized with multiple state and regional awards, many of them related to bringing new life into existing community cornerstones. In 2019, the Governor of Oregon recognized Heidi’s expertise by appointing her to the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation.
Heidi’s past projects contain a huge range of experience and diversity, including several notable award-winning projects. The adaptive reuse of the DH Spheir Building, which won the 2022 deMuro Award, fully rehabilitated a 100-year-old dilapidated commercial building into a luxurious wine lounge and six other commercial spaces in the heart of downtown Bend. Heidi’s leadership of historic Union High School’s restoration included a reintroduction of the main entry and façade, a central commons area for students, and a sensitively designed addition of an exterior elevator. This project was recognized with the 2023 deMuro Award. Heidi’s outstanding projects also include Sisters Elementary, North Star Elementary, Bend Amateur Athletic Club, Pendleton Early Learning Center, and Yosemite’s Curry Village Employee Housing.
Beyond her professional interests, Heidi loves outdoor adventure in Central Oregon’s beautiful terrain — downhill skiing, rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, mountain biking, and hiking with her family.
